DESCRIPTION

As a key member of the Engagement team, the Engagement Associate will provide operational support to maintain and grow effective engagement with UNGC’s US business participants and partners. This role ensures smooth internal workflows, supports accurate company data and compliance, and contributes to high-quality relationship management.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ENGAGEMENT ASSOCIATE INCLUDE:

  • Supporting the team’s recruitment and account management functions by maintaining up-to-date engagement materials, presentations, and one-pagers
  • Maintaining an updated, clean database of participant details, such as contact information and engagement tracking
  • Tracking participant compliance on annual requirements, including Communication on Progress submissions and fee payments, and supporting company follow ups where needed
  • Managing the shared Engagement inbox, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and routing messages appropriately
  • Supporting the planning and execution of Engagement events, including in-person roundtables and receptions as well as online webinars
  • Collaborating across teams (Programming, Communications, Global Headquarters) to ensure clear flow of information and understanding of shared deliverables

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS:

  • Self-starter, detail-oriented and a great teammate, with a willingness to take ownership of responsibilities and maintain a high level of positive energy and drive
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and project coordination skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and in a fast-paced environment independently and manage appropriate systems to track projects and work
  • Complete assignments on time or, as necessary, initiate internal communications to advise of unavoidable delays
  • A customer-oriented approach to engaging with multiple audiences, including member companies, UN colleagues and the Network USA board
  • Sound judgment and professionalism with the ability to make independent decisions, demonstrate a high level of initiative and proactively identify and solve problems

 

TO FULFILL THIS ROLE SUCCESSFULLY, YOU SHOULD DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience with emphasis on client service-oriented roles
  • Highly proficient and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and experience working with Salesforce or other CRM systems, and/or Pardot
  • Interest or motivation to work on corporate sustainability issues. Prior experience with the private sector on corporate responsibility, sustainability reporting, or other sustainability initiatives is a plus, especially if done within the context of a United Nations initiative or partnership
  • Availability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours to help meet important deadlines
  • Ability to occasionally travel domestically for US events and meetings

 

This position reports to the Head of Engagement, UN Global Compact Network USA. The Network USA office is headquartered in New York City. This position is open to remote candidates within the United States that will travel to New York City as needed.
